The next year, four months after their breakup was made public, Grande’s ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, died after an accidental overdose of fentanyl, alcohol and cocaine. Grande was overcome with grief while contending with some Miller fans who blamed her for the relapse that resulted in his death. “They didn’t see the years of work and fighting and trying, or the love and exhaustion,” she said then. “You have no idea how many times I warned him that that would happen and fought that fight.”

Gomez is currently director of estates for the Aaron Kirman Group, a luxury real estate firm that operates out of Beverly Hills, California. His experience has earned him “one of the largest rolodexes of A-list buyers,” according to his Aaron Kirman profile. 

The profile also calls Gomez “highly sought-after for his extensive knowledge in the fields of significant architecture and luxury estates” and notes that he’s “quickly becoming an industry titan.” Presumably because of his career, he’s friendly with several celebs besides his bride, including fellow pop icon Miley Cyrus.

Gomez is considered to be hardworking, “very focused on work and low-key,” according to a PEOPLE source. “He likes keeping his relationship with Ari private. They have been able to get to know each other in peace.”

He’s also a bit creative as well. According to his new bride, he’s the one who came up with the video concept for her song “Positions.”

He also helped jeweler Jack Solow design both the engagement ring and wedding band he gave Grande.

Grande met Gomez while he was on the job: She needed a Realtor to help her find a house! “When she saw him, she immediately thought he was cute and very good-looking, and she asked her team to set up an in-person meeting with him,” a source spilled to Us Weekly. “Ariana fell very hard for Dalton shortly after they met.”

They hit it off right away. In February 2020, TMZ dished that Grande had been seen kissing a mystery man in a random California bar. Since she’d said she hadn’t been seeing anyone since her split from Davidson in 2018, this was big news for fans.
