How Does a Woman, 41, Dies on American Airlines Flight!

An autopsy will be performed to determine the woman’s cause of death

A 41-year-old woman died after falling ill on a flight from the Dominican Republic to Charlotte, N.C., and an autopsy will determine her cause of death.

Authorities say an woman died after she “fell ill” during an American Airlines flight from the Dominican Republic.

The flight was heading to Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday when the 41-year-old woman became unwell, according to a media release from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.

Flight 2790 was diverted to Providenciales International Airport due to the passenger’s “medical needs,” a spokesperson for the airline said in a statement obtained.

Air Traffic Control Tower requested medical assistance for the woman, “who at the time was receiving Cardiopulmonary resuscitation,” around 6:15 p.m. local time, according to police.

“A medical team, along with police units, were dispatched,” police said, “and the patient was transported to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where she died.”

An autopsy will be performed to determine the woman’s cause of death, authorities said. The woman’s name has not been released to the public, although Fox affiliate WXIN-TV reported she was from Indiana.

Another incident involving a separate American Airlines flight also occurred on Wednesday.

Flight 94 was diverted to Boston less than two hours into the flight to Spain, which began at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City around 7:30 p.m. local time, Massachusetts State Police said, according to The Independent.

The flight landed safely at Logan International Airport just before 10:15 p.m., NBC Boston and CBS affiliate WBZ-TV reported. Passengers were forced to remain in Boston overnight.

American Airlines said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE that the plane landed at Logan “due to a maintenance issue,” and was “taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team.”

“We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused,” the airline added.
