5 Minnesota Women Killed in a Terrible Car Accident

Five young women from Minnesota lost their lives in a horrifying car crash caused by a driver who was speeding. The incident occurred while they were returning home from the mall on Friday night.

The victims, Sabiriin Ali, Sahra Gesaade, Salma Abdikadir, Sagal Hersi, and Siham Adam, were preparing for their friend’s wedding the following day.

They were all doing some shopping and getting henna applied before the celebration.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Derrick John Thompson, was allegedly going more than 40 mph above the speed limit of 55 mph on the highway.

He managed to exit the highway before a state trooper could pull him over. Ignoring a red light, the driver collided with the car carrying the five women, resulting in their tragic deaths.

The impact was so severe that it pushed their vehicle 50 feet.

Derrick Thompson, who is reported to be the son of former state representative John Thompson, tried to escape on foot but was eventually arrested.

He sustained injuries from the crash and is currently hospitalized. Authorities are investigating whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.

It was discovered that Thompson had his license reinstated just a few months ago after multiple convictions for driving with a revoked or suspended license.

This devastating incident has left the community in grief. An online fundraiser has been set up to support the victims’ families, which has already raised over $300,000.

The loss of these young women, who had promising futures ahead of them, has created a significant void in their community.
